Project Jyoti: Our Candle Making Workshops for the benefit of the Underprivileged

The MG SocialCare Foundation, conducted yet another candle making workshop in a small village Yusufpur Nai Basti Dundahera, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This is MG SocialCare’s second candle making workshop, the first one being held in a small village at Dwarka, Delhi NCR in the month of January, in association with the Sai Foundation. The objective of conducting this workshop is to empower women from families whose husbands work in factories and who have no additional sources of income. This initiative aimed not only to teach a skill but also to make them be self-reliant.

    Connecting Communities

This journey began with a simple connection, a conversation with a leading woman in the village. This initial contact evolved into a series of meetings and phone calls to ensure that beneficiaries were not only aware of the workshop but also motivated to participate. Driven by the desire to forge their own path and make the most of their time, women eagerly seized the opportunities presented to them.

    Our Mentor: Neerja Wadhwa

Led by former BPO trainer turned candle artist Neerja Wadhwa, the workshop provided a platform for practical learning and skill development. Neerja’s journey from corporate training to candle making was an inspiration and showed that determination and passion can light up a new path in life. With her brand LittleCandleCabin, Neerja has not only mastered the art of candle making, but is also committed to women empowerment.

    About the candle making workshop

The workshop itself was more than just a training on candle-making. It was a journey to independence. Participants were introduced to the intricacies of the craft, from selecting materials to mastering techniques. Beyond technical skills, they were instilled with confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit, laying the foundation for future ventures. The candles made in the workshop were more than just products; they were symbols of newfound independence and empowerment.

    Conclusion

At the end of the workshop, there was a sign of excitement in the faces of the beneficiaries. Armed with new skills and insight, these women had a ray of hope to do something on their own, opening the path for a new chapter full of truth, empowerment and community spirit. Through projects like this, MG Social Care Foundation and its partners continue to shine a light, a light that shows that even the smallest flame has the power to ignite dreams and change reality.
